Stable, Reef-Safe Nitrate Reduction
Bring high nitrate back under control without shocking your system. Nitrate Reducer supports the tank’s natural biological processes to lower nitrate safely and gradually, helping you maintain a clean, stable reef environment that corals can thrive in.
Key highlights: Targets 1 to 5 ppm, supports coral colouration and growth, and helps reduce nuisance algae driven by excess nitrate.
Controlled Reduction
Promotes natural nitrate consumption for smooth, predictable results.
Long-Term Stability
Helps keep nutrients balanced for a more resilient reef system.
Algae Pressure Relief
Reduces the fuel that drives nuisance algae outbreaks.
Easy to Tune
Start low, test, then increase gradually until you land in the sweet spot.
Nitrate Reducer is a carefully formulated solution that quickly promotes the natural biological processes responsible for reducing nitrate in reef aquariums. By supporting these processes, it helps lower excess nitrate safely and gradually, leading to more stable water quality. Proper nitrate balance supports coral health, enhances colouration, and reduces nuisance algae growth, creating a healthier, more resilient reef system.
Key Benefits
- Promotes natural biological processes that reduce nitrate.
- Helps maintain nitrate in the optimal range of 1–5 ppm.
- Supports coral stress resistance, colouration, and growth.
- Reduces nuisance algae outbreaks caused by high nitrate.
- Encourages long-term nutrient stability.
Nitrate Reducer does not directly remove nitrate; instead, it promotes natural processes within the aquarium that gradually convert or consume nitrate. This controlled reduction helps prevent sudden swings and maintains a balanced reef environment.
- Initial Dose: 1 mL per 100 liters (26 gallons) daily for the first week.
- After the first week, test nitrate and increase by 1–2 mL per 100 L every 3 days until desired nitrate level is reached.
- Target range: 1–5 ppm.
- Always test nitrate regularly to track changes and fine-tune dosing.
- Use within 6 months of opening.
- Dose into a high-flow area of your sump or display tank for best distribution.
- Cloudiness may occur due to a bacterial bloom, this indicates the system is adjusting to the dose and that you have increased the dose too quickly.
- If cloudiness is excessive, or if fish show signs of rapid breathing, momentarily stop the dosing and perform a small water change. Once cloudiness subsides resume dosing at a smaller rate.
- In some cases, your protein skimmer may become more effective, helping to pull nutrients out of the water as the product works.
- Adjust dosing gradually based on your system’s consumption rate and bioload.
- Not for human consumption.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Avoid contact with skin or eyes; wear gloves and eye protection.
- If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
- Nitrate levels are consistently above 5 ppm.
- Corals show stress, pale colouration, or slowed growth due to excess nutrients.
- Nuisance algae growth is becoming difficult to control.
- You want to restore nutrient balance naturally for long-term reef stability.
