Algorithm Used

This calculator uses the dilution formula: C₁V₁ = C₂V₂, where specific gravity is proportional to salinity concentration. The calculation determines the volume of RO water needed: RO Volume = Current Volume × (Current SG - Target SG) / (Target SG - 1.000). This assumes RO water has a specific gravity of 1.000 and accounts for the linear relationship between specific gravity and dissolved salt concentration in seawater.
